The NBA will celebrate the 75th anniversary throughout the entire 2021-2022 campaign. The NBA 75 will pay tribute to the defining moments throughout the league’s history. Throughout generations of basketball, the NBA 75 will honour the legacies of current and former players and coaches. The NBA will continue its efforts to promote the league while supporting the communities across the globe. This season the NBA will feature NBA75 Classic Match-ups to celebrate the historical moment in league history. The November 1st game between the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks marks the 75th anniversary of the league's first game which, was played between Toronto Huskies and the Knicks on November 1st, 1946.
In 1996 the NBA named the 50 greatest players list featuring Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and more. In late October, the NBA will unveil the list of the 75 greatest players. A flashback in history while turning a page to the present. The NBA commemorates the 75th Anniversary by sharing the short film NBA Lane with millions of fans. The film shares a unique display of the NBA’s rich history while strolling down memory lane.

The legend-filled film was created courtesy of the creative ad agency Translation and directed by Rick Famuyiw. The video includes references that resonate with NBA fans like Gary Payton's signature glove, Mutombo’s famous finger wag and Kareem teaching Dirk how to perfect his patenting skyhook.
